Artistic approach
My realistic-fantastic paintings are intended to be a journey into a dream world, inspired by mythology and fairy tales, but also by cyberpunk culture, where past and future intertwine. On the theme of hybridisation, I combine humans and trees, plants and animals to create symbolist representations evoking spirituality, ecology and the bonds between beings. I place myself at twilight, between the light of the marvellous and the darkness of the strange. By merging trees and humans, plants and animals, and mixing machines and plants, I evoke the connections and unity of the world suggested by ancient spiritualities and contemporary science. I publish my works in graphic novels where the narrative is constructed from images, a mirror image of the concept of illustration.
I have chosen the classic medium of oil painting and the figurative approach to give maximum evocative power to my mental images and also for the pure pleasure I derive from the act of painting. I try to create with my adult technique in the spirit of my childhood.
