Artistic approach

Balance and imbalance
continue to generate each other in a shared momentum, despite their antinomy, towards the sky. Life for Elisabeth Cibot is always a matter of elevation, a departure from the earth pushing its energy upwards; for her, vitality is verticality.
Her series Autre-Monde opens up the dizzying perspective of Celtic, Breton and Welsh culture and mythology, which the artist suddenly brings to life by sculpting characters, deities and heroes from the tales of the Mabinogion. The Great Queen Rhiannon on her horse, to name but one, seems capable of holding back with a wave of her hand all the power of primordial creative impulses, that of the ancient gods of Europe.
The strength of the feminine, which is implicit in all of the artist's work without ever becoming an exclusive subject, is revealed in the faces of Camille Claudel, the result of a long and patient exploration of her many facets, which Elisabeth Cibot brings out of the material in an eternal presence.
